Transcription:Know all Men by these Presents that I Edward Hircom of Reading in the County of Middlesex Gentleman For and in Consideration of the Sum of Eighty Pounds L. M. To me in hand well and Truly paid by Samel Taylor of Reding in the County aforesaid Cordwainer Have sold and conveyed to him the said Samuel Taylor and to his heirs and Assigns a Negro man named Cesar [crossed out] aged about Twenty six years[crossed out] and I the said Edward Hircom for myself my Heirs Executors and Administrators Do Promise To and with the said Samuel Taylor that I will warrant and defend to him the said Negro man against the Lawfull Claims of any person or Persons whatsoever in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this Twenty fourth Day of March in the Eighth Year of his Majesty’s Reign A.D. 1768 Signed Sealed and Delivered in the Presents of us Timothy Russell William upton Edward Hircom Seal Copy of the Original delivered to the said Samuel Taylor by Order of Court at Newbury Port September 1771 Examined by William Jeffry Clerk Copy examined by William Jeffry
