Transcription:Essex, ss. GEORGE the Third, by the Grace of GOD, of Great-Britain, France and Ireland, KING, Defender of the Faithe, &c. To the Sheriff of our Cointy of Essex. his Under Sheriff or Emloy, Greeting We Command you to Attach the goods or Estate of Richard Greenleaf of Newbury Port in our County of Essex, Esquire, to the Value of fifty Pounds, and for want thereof to take the Body of the said Richard (if. he may be found in your Precinct) and him safely keep, so that you have him before. our Justices of our Inferior Court of Common Please next to be holden at Ipswich within and for our said County of Essex, on the last Tuesday of March instant: Then and there in our said Court to Answer unto Casar a Mo tto Man [crossed out - of said Newburyport Labourer] (otherwise called Casar Hindrick) [crossed a Mulatto Man] of said Newburyport Labourer, in a Plea of Trespass for that the said Richard at said Newbury port on the first day of January with Force & Arms assaulted the Plaintiff then and there with Force as aforesaid falsly imprisoned him and so with Force as aforesaid & against the Plts will has there held kept & restrained him in Servitude as the said Richards Slave from the same Day untill the Day of the purchase of this Writ & many other Injuries & Enormities the said Richard to the Pltf then & there did against our Peace & To the Damage of the said Casar as he saith the Sum of fifty Pounds, which shall then and there be made to appear, with other due Damages. And have you there this Writ, with your Doings therein.
