- Dated Nov. 12, 1771. Sworn, written testimony that Foster in June 1768 refused to sell old house in Andover to James Turner and Casar as Foster "would have nothing to do with Casar." Samuel Taylor approached him and Foster agreed to sell the house to Taylor. Citation: Samuel Taylor vs Casar, Superior Court of Judicature June 1772, 15. Suffolk # 132190.
Transcription:I John Foster of Andover in the County of Essex of lawfull Age testify that about the Month of June AD 1768 one James Turner came to me and asked me to sell him and Ceasar (a Negro man) an old House which I had in Andover, that he the Deponent said he would have Nothing to do with Casar, that Mr. Samuel Taylor sent to him afterward and desired he would sell the said House or half of it to Casar, and afterward came himself and engaged to pay for the said half haouse [crossed out]afterward[/crossed out] which he didi and paid him two pounds six shillings & eight pence. & further saith not.
