- Dated Nov. 12, 1771. Ezra Damon's testimony that Casar was at Damon's house in July 1768 and threatened Hircom. Casar was tried and convicted and "Mr. Samuel Taylor" had to vouch for his good behavior and pay his fine of 4 pounds. Citation: Samuel Taylor vs Casar, Superior Court of Judicature June 1772, 15. Transcription:I Ezra Damon of Reading in the County of MIddlesex testifie and say that about the Month of July 1768 Casar (a Negro man) belonging to said Samuel Taylor was at his House and threatened Captain Edward Huscom who was then at his said Damon’s house also that he would hurt him in his Person or Estate and that the said Negro was soon after taken by a Warrant and carryed before Mr. Justice Nicholls and upon his Tryall was found guilty, and that he was bound for his good Behaviour and Mr. Samuel Tayler aforesaid became bound for his good behavior and egaged to pay the Costs which was about four pounds lawfull money & further saith not.
