Suffolk # 132190.
Transcription:I Primus of lawful Age testify that Samuel Taylor (who claims Casar as his Servant) told me he had agreed with said Casar, that if he said Casar paid him six hundred pounds (old Tenor) in six years, then said Casar was to be free. I asked Taylor if Casar had paid him anything, said Taylor answered yes, he has paid me some. I told him I was afraid Casar would not make out very well in the way he was in, & that if Casar had let himself out by the year, & paid him the money yearly it would, I thought, have been better. Mr Taylor answered _ that Casar was pretty well like where he was then (which was in Danvers) & seemed to be in a pretty good way of making money, & he was loth to take him away, tho he did not know but the Law-Suit with Fuller would oblige him to do it. Mr. Taylor added _ “between you & I , I would have you make no words about what we ave been saying, nor speak of it to anybody.” This was about sixteen or eighteen months ago. Salem Nov 12, 1771.
