- Dated Nov. 13, 1771. Anna Whittaker's Sworn testimony that she lived "a few Rods" from Casar and Tamar for fourteen months in 1769-1770 and saw them in bed together as man and wife. Declared that Samuel Taylor came to Casar asking for money. Afterwards, Casar said that he would not pay Taylor but "intended to sweat him before he is done with him." Transcription:I Anna Whittaker of lawful Age testify that I lived for the Space of Fourteen Months within a few Rods of the House where Casar, (a Negro Man of Andover) lived in the years 1769 and 1770 and saw him said Casar and Tamar an Indian Woman in Bed together as Husband & Wife. And further saith that said Tamar was generally reputed to be a person whose Word was not to be relyed on. Anna X Whittaker Salem Nove 13 1771 She also saith that Mr. Samuel Taylor cam down to Casar’s House after Money (as She understood) & after Said Taylor was gone Casar said. he meaning Mr. Sam Taylor need not come so often for he should not pay him any Money for he intended to sweat him before he had done with him.
